Product Description:
Bluefaced Leicester (pronounced “Lester”, also known as “BFL”) is a fine, lustrous, longwool fleece and a favourite among fiber enthusiasts. Loved among knitters and crocheters, this fiber is perfect for making sweaters, scarves, hats, mittens, and household items.
The Knit Apothecary’s BFL yarn is made of 100% non-superwash, BFL fiber; because the fiber is untreated, it has not come into contact with harsh chemicals and it retains its characteristics so the finished garment will hold its shape well. BFL fiber is next-to-skin soft, making it suitable for persons with sensitive skin and babies yet it is durable so it holds up to frequent wear and washing. Its softness and durability make it a versatile fiber, suitable for making both garments and household items.
Each skein is dyed by hand with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified dyes that are non-toxic and do not contain heavy metals, so you can rest assured that the finished garments you make for yourself and your loved ones are healthy, safe and heavy metal-free. If your garment eventually ends up in the compost, no heavy metals will go into your compost or the ground.
